Hi there,
Happy New Year. Almost the start of another years racing. Let's hope this year is as successful as last years meetings we had.
Our first meeting of the year is a twilight on Saturday 11th February. Will be a 12 noon start, with tuning runs starting at 1.30. Further details closer to the day.
We have our first committee meeting of the year this Tuesday night, 7 pm at Tokoroa Club, Chambers Street. Remember anyone can come along and have your say.
The new rules round is open now so if there is a rule change etc you would like the committee to consider supporting, then email it to me before Tuesdays meeting. This year KSNZ has formed a "Rules Sub-committee" to work thru the submissions and hopefully do whats right for the sport. We nominated Jim McIntosh to be part of this group and this nomination was successful. I know he would be more than happy to discuss any rule changes/inclusions with you if you need to contact him.
Like last year, this year looks as tho we will be short staffed in the kitchen again. If some of you have an hour or 2 to spare to help over the lunch break, Denise and I would really appreciate you coming forward and offering. Makes it less hassle than having to ask you guys directly for your help on the day. Another huge help is the kitchen clean up immediately after racing finishes. Maybe a couple of wives/girl friends/sisters/brothers/gay uncles etc could come up and help while the karts etc are being packed up. In the past this has taken only an hour or so with a couple of helpers.
I have attached one of the best pics I have seen of our track! A couple of juniors were out practicing in the midst of our bumper grass growing season.
Looking forward to another fabulous year for us
Sheryl

Hi there,
Fingers crossed for a sunny day this Saturday for our Xmas Meeting.
Pretty much a normal raceday timetable applies:
8.00 am gates open
8.30 - 9.30 Scrutineering and Entries
9.45 Tuning runs
3 heats till a lunch break at about 1 pm

During the lunch break our local "celebrities" will be out doing hotlaps. This will be a hoot to watch and they have not raced before (except for any driver training they have organised). Their fastest lap will determine the grid draw for the enduro later in the day.

1.30 remaining Club claasses - 1 heat plus the final
3.00 Celebrity race pre activity begins
3.30 The Pacific Kartsport NZ Celebrity Enduro. Local celebrities will be paired with our Rotax drivers and do an eduro race with driver change etc
4.00 Bar opens and music (yes we have a LIVE band!!)
5.00 Dinner
6.00 Prize Giving

BBQ Dinner. We will be selling BBQ meat for $5 per person as long as you bring a plate to share - a salad or vege dish, or a dessert please. A chiller will be available to store food in during the day. Please have your food ready to go as we do not have the man power to be cooking or preparing things. And also please try and bring it in a disposable dish :)

Help needed during the day please! If anyone is available to give an hour or so help during the day in the kitchen preparing food for the shop then Denise would love to see you. Also Denise and I would love 2 or 3 people to go into the kitchen as soon as racing finishes for the day and give it a clean up. Thanks to Jannine and Trudy who did it last time. It doesnt take long with a few people helping and saves us hours the following day when we have so much to tidy up after a meeting. Also if you are handy with BBQ tongs then we have a space for you cooking meat :) Many hands make light work!

Sunday Tidy-up. Yep that stink job that everyone is too busy to help with needs doing ... we will have quite a bit to tidy up on the Sunday so I will get back you with a time to meet and help.

Spot Prizes and giveaways at the prize giving ... we have 6 x $50 Repco vouchers up for grabss thanks to Rob Dahm Ltd, we have surf gear as lucky prizes, we will have our Free Race Day Entry to give away, plus our $50 lucky draw. Nothing quite as good as the 225 million I just won in the Nigerian Lottery (all I have to do is send in $50 and my bank details and they will deposit the money :))))))

Think that is about all See you Saturday Sheryl

Hi There,

Well our very successful Anniversary Meeting has been and gone. What a huge effort from Brad in recruiting such O for Orsum fields. The feedback after the event was amazing. Can it be even bigger and better next year???

Just under 2 weeks from now we will be having our Xmas Meeting including the Pacific Kartsport Celebrity Pro-Am Enduro race, on Saturday 10th December. Basically the Pro-am for those of you who arent involved, is 16 or so of our rotax lights teaming up with local "celebrities". During our lunch break the celebs will be on the track for half an hour clocking up a few laps. Their fastest lap time will determine their grid position for the enduro race. At the end of the day the Enduro race will begin. Probably about 25 laps. A bit of hoo-hah surrounding it. Good promotion for the club etc. Will be alot of fun. I know Ive had alot of fun getting "Stig" photos for the newspaper!!

After the race we will have the bar open for some social intercourse. A BBQ for dinner will be from approx 5 pm. This will be $5 per head for the meat on the condition you bring something to share - a salad, a vege dish or a christmas dessert. We decided to scrap the Spit Roast Company and go for the cheaper option.

The prize giving will be from 6ish, followed by LIVE music (until the band has to leave to do a "gig" in Hamilton late that night).

We have giveaways even!!! Six $50 Repco vouchers are up for grabs, also surf gear as spot prizes, as well as our usual draws.
On the Friday before we will be asking for help to set up a marquee etc but will email you closer to the day.
We will also need some help on the day. If anyone is free to do an hour or 2 in the kitchen to help Denise out it will be most appreciated. We are chronically short of help during the day. We are all volunteers - we would appreciate you volunteering!! Thanks to Janine Bass and Trudy Meszaros who cleaned the kitchen after the Anniversary Meeting.

Looking forward to your "reply" emails offering help :) Sheryl

Hi there,
Not long till our Anniversary Meeting - 10 more sleeps! There will be a practice on Saturday, with a bbq and bar facilities at 4 pm.
Some of the fields for the Sunday are looking great - some are lacking entries at this stage :( Spread the word if you know someone who may be thinking of entering. More title holders entered than you can shake a stick at. Check the entries out at the home page.
There will be a working bee this Sunday starting at 10.30 am. A few jobs need tidying up before our 2 big meetings. The hole in the fence, some weed eating, installing a rangehood in kitchen ...... bring whatever tools you think you need to do these jobs. The more the merrier, will be good to see you there :)
Not long also to our "Pacific Kartsport Pro-Am Celebrity Xmas Meeting" on 10 December. Celebrities, delicious spit roast xmas dinner, alcohol (which we have a licence for), a gig by a REAL band .... its all happening here. Remember if you want to pay your xmas meal beforehand then please do. We also need to confirm numbers so please let us know how many of you will be eating (no need to pay till the day). The numbers we confirm are the ones we have to pay for so it is important we know of your intentions :) The dinner consists of 4 different meats, 8 salad/vege dishes, fresh rolls, new potatoes, various sauces and gravies, plus gorgeous Xmas desserts. Adults are $25.50 per head, children 12 and under are $13.00, and under 5's free.
See you all at the working bee this Sunday,
Sheryl the Secretary :)

13/10/11
Hi there,
This sunny Sunday will be the completion of R1, and R2 of Club Champs, and also last round in the Points Series 2011. The day will be starting 1/2 hour early to get in H4 and the final of R1, then on to R2. The full timetable for the day can be found on our website www.kartsporttokoroa.co.nz
I will have breakfast ready from about 7.30 am so no need to have boring old cereal before you leave home. There will be Breakfast muffins, bacon and egg rolls, paninis, pizza buns etc etc ready in the pie warmer.
Entries are steadily coming in now for the Anniversary Meeting in November. For your convenience, I have attached the entry form and info sheet so you can pop your name on it and drop it in when you race on Sunday :) We have 6 or 7 title holders entered so far, so looking like it will be a good days racing. An entry list will soon be put up on our website and updated daily so make sure your name is on it!
We are pleased to announce the sponsors for each class at the Anniversary Meeting. We appreciate their generosity and hope you can support them where possible. You never know when you may neeed to hire a big mother of a tractor, or cut some concrete, or get a rubbish truck built, or move some logs .....
Huge thanks to (in no particular order): * Osbornes Sales and Lease * Ace Concrete Cutting * Helispecs * Right Karts * Brian Tinney Motors * Wilkinson Engineering * Pacific Kartsport * Kartzone * Stihl shop Tokoroa * Rob Dahm Limited
And for those who missed it .... congratulations to our raffle winner The Bass Family. They have won naming rights to our track for one year. And again thanks to everyone for your support.
Our Christmas meeting is fast approaching also. What a bobby dazzler this is going to be. Dont forget you can prepay your tickets for the Spit Roast Christmas Dinner, or spread payments over the next 6 weeks or so to ease the burden. Contact either Denise or I to arrange this.
I think that is about all, although once I press that "send" button I will remember something I forgot :( see you all on Sunday Sheryl

14/7/11
Hi there, After a very successful first meeting of your new committee last night, the new President Brad Tyrrell has called for a woking bee this Saturday and 9 am. Just a couple of small (but important) jobs need doing so should only take the morning. Bring your spades, welders and anything else needed to rebuilt the set of steps on the bank and to fix the grandstand. After many years of hard work the Tremains have retired from their many and varied roles. Thanks to Phoebe for her tireless work in the kitchen, and to Glenn Snr and Phoebs for the immaculate ground keeping. Also to Glenn Jnr who spent countless hours on the track improvements. Was great to see everyone put their hands up to take on jobs. A keen eye will be cast over Bruce, Charles and Greg who are now our grounds people. You have big shoes to fill. Also (no doubt) Denise and I will try and run the kitchen as ably as Phoebs did. Kathy will be a new face in the kitchen. Be nice to her - shes a great cook! If you would like to train to be a machine examiner let me know asap. We have 3 guys who will start training soon so you can jump onboard at the same time. Its not hard to do apparently. Brad and I are organising the event of the year for our Christmas Meeting. At this stage we will have a Xmas Meal catered by a Spit Roast Company. I will confirm prices as soon as I can with you, but its looking like around $25 per head for adults, and 12 years and under are half price. If you want to prepay or pay off the meal over the next few months we will have this facility available to ease the cost. Will keep you informed. The new committee and other info can be found on our website www.kartsporttokoroa.co.nz Remember Saturday @ 9 am Sheryl

18/5/11
As from 19 Jun 11 meeting, a Masters class will be recognised within the Rotax class. This means that for Club meetings, points series and club champs, Masters (40+) will be separately recognised with podium results and trophies. However they are not separate races, just a recognition within a class. For example, say the Rotax lights class has 15 entries made up of 8 "youngies" and 7 "over 40's" or "Masters". All 15 race in the same race, the grid draw is done in the normal way and 1, 2, and 3 are the first three karts across the line. But then 1st 2nd and 3rd of the Masters is then recorded and accumulated to give a final result for the day for Masters and 1st 2nd and 3rd are then separately rewarded on the podium. This also applies to points for our Points Series and Club Champs. It has been decided that this new recognition will be backdated to Round 1 of the 2011 Points Series. Masters can be distinguished from the rest because of their black numbers on a green background. There are normally some good battles that occur within a race and this initiative seeks to recognise these races within races.
1/5/11
Hi there

Firstly big congratulations to our members who were on the podium at the Nationals in Invercargill last weekend: Thomas Joyes 1NZ JR, Campbell Joyes 2NZ JR, Rhys Tinney 3NZ Junior, Brad Tyrrell 3NZ Yamaha Heavy & 2NZ Rotax Heavy. Also Pacific Kartsport took out the Manufacturers Trophy with Monaco having the most podiums. This has been won by Arrow for the past 10 years :)

You spoke and we listened!! Over 75% of the responses to our question regarding the points series said "Let's keep it members only". So we will revert back to how it was. In order to get points in the points series you must be a financial member Tokoroa Kart Club. Our next meeting is Round 1 of the 2011 Points Series and this year will conclude with the November Meeting. Note that the 2 Rounds of Club Champs are also in the Points Series.

All memberships are now due. A form can be downloaded from www.kartsportwaikato.co.nz or picked up from the Clubrooms before your next meeting.

We have had made a whole bunch of bumper stickers featuring our new branding. When you renew your membership you will get 1 complimentary sticker per racing member. If this sticker is displayed on your kart you will go in the draw after each meeting to win a complimentary entry fee to one of our meetings. If you purchase a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th ....) sticker and display this on your trailer or car you will have further entries in the draw. Stickers can be purchased from the shop for $2.50 each. You must be at the draw at Prize-giving to win. Will be redrawn till it is won.

Remember our rules regarding lending your track keys to non-members etc. This has started to get a bit out of hand. If anyone needs to hire a key they MUST sort it out thru Glenn or Denise Tremain, sign the indemnity form and pay the appropriate fee. Do not lend your key to others. If this doesn't start lessening then we might have to revisit our track open hours for practice. Look at other Clubs and the limitations they have on practice hours. Do we want this happening here???

Our next Club Day is next Sunday 8th May - Mothers Day! Will be great to see a better turnout than we had for the Club Classes in both the Rotax Max and the Pro-Kart Meetings. Remember this is the first Round of the Points Series, and will also be the first time alot of you will get the chance to use the new pit area.

See you next Sunday Sheryl

8/4/11
Hi there,
Please note the track will be closed this Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April as the mini-motos have hired the track for a race meeting.
All Club memberships have now expired. A new membership form can be obtained from here. No price increase this year.
At the committee meeting next week we are responding to Round 22 proposed rule changes etc. A couple of interesting ones there. If you would like to familiarise yourself with these and perhaps have your say then email me back and I will put your view forward at the meeting.
Also at next meeting we will revisit the Club Points Series criteria. Do you think our points series should be open to all (ie members and non-members) or just members? Cut off for responses is Monday. Email me your response so I can collate and present replies.
Sheryl

30/3/11
Hi Everyone,
Firstly its that time of the year again when all memberships expire. You can download a new form from our newly revamped website. Memberships expire at the end of March.
You will notice our Club had adopted the Kartsport New Zealand branding and will be known as Kartsport Tokoroa. We had a choice of colours for our brand and have chosen to go with orange - Tokoroa is here as a result of New Zealand Forest Products and their colour was orange, so we didn't just pick orange because it was a pretty colour. We have some history there :)
This weekend is our April Club Day on the Sunday in conjunction with the Pro-Kart Meeting on the Saturday and Sunday. All club classes will have a normal Sunday race day so don't be scared off by the big boys. The 3 Pro-Kart Classes are spectacular to watch.
To those of you who didn't come to our Rotax Max Challenge Meeting you missed a great 2 days of action. Brian Tyrrell spent a whole day (so he says) building a mobile bar fridge (picture is attached) and it was definately the talk of the weekend. Brad Tyrrell set the track record with the bar fridge of 45.33 seconds.
Another thing you will have misssed by not coming to the Rotax Meeting was the "opening" of our new pit area. Once again huge thanks to young Glenn, old Glenn and Bruce Southwood for the many hours of work they have done. Next step is the garage over the scales with a tech shed etc included.
Big congratulations to Glenn and Phoebe Tremain for celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary last weekend - 50 years married :)
See you all this weekend
sheryl

16/2/11
Hi Everyone,

Thanks to the SMALL handful of people who toiled all weekend at the working bee. The pit area looks great but still a whole heap of work to get finished if we have any hope of holding the Rotax Challenge on 12/13 March. We will be having another working bee THIS WEEKEND to get the rest of the fencing done. Saturday and Sunday. Bring fencing tools.

Due to the work in progress the track is closed for practice till further notice. Also definately closed on 6 March due to the Drag Races on the airstrip, and also next Saturday (26 February) while the SuperSports are using it for the skating leg.

Our Clubday scheduled for April 10 has now been moved to Sunday April 3rd, which will be held in conjunction with Round 2 of the Prokart Series we have been asked to run since Rotorua is not ready to host it.

Starting the next race day will be our $50 snowball lucky draw. 1 draw - if you aren't there it will jackpot! As well as the drivers names, there will also be the names of everyone who helped make the day possible - Phoebe in the shop, the ladies in the chookhouse, scrutineers, ME, etc ....... Drawn after prizegiving :)

Remember WORKING BEE THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY!!!

Sheryl

31/1/11 - Track is closed from 31 Jan 11 due to machinery and builders working on the new dummy grid / parc ferme area. Its going to be FANTASTIC. Your help will be needed in February to reinstate the fencing so get your tape measures / hammers polished up ready for action! Most of the development is being done by contractors but we still need volunteers for a few weekends from mid Feb to do fencing and other jobs - good easy stuff! We will be contacting you soon so reserve some time to help your club.

Unsure of when track will re-open - please check with Glenn (details on committee page) as to track status.

9 December 2010

Hi Everyone

By now you should have the recipe books out, the ingredient list written out for super market shopping, and the christmas serving plates cleaned and ready to bring your christmas dessert to share at our Christmas Dinner after the racing on Saturday. If you dont have time to cook, then something along the lines of christmas mince fruit tarts or Ferrero Rocher chocolates would go down a treat.Fridges will be available so dont leave your food in your trailer. The kart club is providing dinner in return for members bringing something sweeet to share.

After dinner we will be having the annual end of year prizegiving and a few beers etc.

See you Saturday sheryl

26 November 2010

Hi there,

Great news ........... a grant application I had been working on resulted in $25,000 being deposited in our clubs bank account! This - along with $$$ we have in the bank already - is enough for us to do our grid redevelopment. A plan has been drawn up and will be on the wall in the clubrooms at the next meeting. Once these are completed we will be able to get a track rating which will enable us to hold the big meetings :)

Working bee again this SATURDAY 27th. It is important that you show up even if just for an hour or 2. These jobs need to now be completed before any redevelopment commences.

Reminder of Christmas Meeting, Xmas dinner and prizegiving on 11th December. The club will provide the meat and salads for dinner in return for you bringing a dessert etc to share. The more in your family the more you need to bring!!! A timetable will be sent out closer to the day.

Thats about it
Oh and in case you were wondering ............... U2 was sensational!!! :)

22 November 2010

Andy Schofield did us proud by winning the NZ Rotax Junior Championship in fine form and going to Italy to represent New Zealand in this class at the Rotax World Championships. While it was not to be this time, we know he will be representing NZ again many more times. We heard he was chewing up the field as he normally does, but some unlucky incidents meant he didnt quite get into the pre final. A great effort by our five NZ competitors - a good rundown of the event here on MyKart. Overall, well done Andy and crew, all a great experience for next time. Looking forward to seeing you back chewing up the fields again soon.

20 November 2010

Hi there,

A bit late notice but we have a working bee tomorrow to get that kerbing done, some concreting and a few other bits and pieces. A great time to provide service to your club to those of you who havent done any so far this year :) Would be much appreciated to see you there.

Our xmas meeting on 11th December is the last one for the year. Another Saturday twilight followed by Christmas meal. The club will provide meat and salads for free - but in return for this free meal you are cordially invited to bring a dessert or other festive goodie to share. A fridge will be available in the clubrooms so please dont leave your food in your trailers as has happened in the past.

New exciting series for next year (and yes MY idea so I will take the blame) called the "Bottle Top Series". After the completion of all rounds in our usual points series next year, we will write all the meetings on to a bottle top and draw out 2 of them which together with our Anniversary Meeting will provide a series of 3 meetings. Points accumulated at each of these 3 meetings will be added and the winner will get a keepsie trophy and a bottle of beer - or ginger beer for kids.

A representative from each Club in the central North Island got together to nut out a calendar for next year so no clashes will occur. This will be on the website soon. Our points series will run from April to Anniversary Meeting inclusive, Bottle Top Series as above, Club Champs in September and October.

Congrats to Phoebe and Glenn Tremain who were honoured at the Sport Waikato Awards on Wednesday night for their service to sport and presented with flowers and a service medal each. Check out the pic on the wall in the Clubrooms.

20 October

Tokoroa's Andy Schofield is set to take on the world come mid November.

The talented young driver from Tokoroa Kart Club recently qualified for the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals to be held 18 - 21 November 2010 at the La Conca-Muro, Leccese, circuit in southern Italy.

Andy has risen to the top of the ranks after 9 or so years in the karting scene - four years in cadets, 2 in JR, then to the Junior class where he has picked up various podiums in Junior Yamaha, KF3 and Rotax Junior.

2010 has been a truly sensational year all round, but it was his amazing effort in the Rotax Max Challenge of New Zealand in the Rotax Max Junior class that has stood out. A stellar performance throughout the series gave him enough points to qualify for the World Grand Finals without having to compete in the final round in Auckland recently.

And to cap all that off, he re-claimed his North Island Champ status in the Yamaha Junior class on Sunday 24th October at Auckland Raceway.

No doubt Andy and his crew, consisting of dad Nigel and Bradley Tyrrell from Pacific Kartsport NZ, will be itching to get to Italy and show the world how a classy kiwi kart team operates.

Good luck Andy and crew - we'll be watching with interest.

Click here to follow Andy, see results and watch some TV of the event.
Click here to see TV coverage of the event and live timing.

8th September 2010
Hi there

Round 1 of Club Champs is this Sunday, with Round 2 in October. Entry fees for the first round are $15 more expensive than Club Days - this money is used to buy trophies. As per previous years, there are 10 heats over 2 meetings with the worst heat being dropped. All Club members as of 1st September are eligible to enter Club Champs and those not eligible start of the back of the field like we did last year

X Rated Drivers need to put an "X" on the entry cards please, so Karen can grid you off the back of the field. Once you have a rating (and a bit of experience under your belt) you can start in the fields

Working Bee will be coming up soon. I know you are all chomping at the bit to come along and help on the day so I will let you know as soon as I know. Be calm till then ...........

Tauranga Street Race organisers are more than happy for any help on the day. If you are available to help please contact Deon Symes at Te Puke Kart Club

Due to the Rain Damage of the Grassed Pit Sites at the last meeting, we have decided that as soon as we have completed the redevelopment of the pit/dummy grid/ scales area of the track then we will tackle the grassed Pit Sites. It was suggested to us that perhaps you guys might be interested in "sponsoring" the concreting of your pit site. The cost of the concreting will be in the area of $1000. Let us know what you think. We already know that Daniel Stevens has shotgun the cobbled area under where the grandstand used to be parked so will be putting his $1000 on the bar instead :)

Congratulations Andy Schofield who has just returned from contesting the Rotax Nationals in Australia. He qualified 28th out of 42. In heat 1 he went from 28th to 10th. In heat 2 he went from 28th to 12th. Heat 3 he started 28th and finished 14th. He started the prefinal in 13th and finished 13th, then finished the final in 12th. Andy has already won the Rotax Challenge without even having to do the finaal round in Auckland, and has therefore qualified to contest the Worlds in Italy in November. First time someone representing Tokoroa has done this :)

See you all Sunday
The Lady on the Gate (and keep your thieving hands out of my lollies)
Sheryl

2nd July 2010

Hi Everyone

Our AGM is coming up on 11th July 2010. We desperately need some of you to step up and take on board a job or 2. There are very few people currently doing all the jobs. For us to be a successful Club and move forward with some of the grand plans we have then we really do need your help. Even if you are unable to take on a committee position then there are other jobs that need doing for every meeting. The rubbish removed, the toilets cleans, selling raffle tickets on the day, helping with BBQ's, writing newspaper articles ............ Please put your hand up and help.

Our Club Day on July 11 is now a Fun Day. There will be no points for the day as we will not be able to run the AMB System as our two AMB ladies, Karen and Elly, will both be away.

Our next big event will be our Anniversary Invitation Meeting. I will be asking for help in a month or two so be prepared. In the meantime we are hoping to get class sponsors to use for a cash prize and trophies for each class. If you are wanting to sponsor a class, or know of someone who might like to then please contact me. Also we will be running a surprise mystery feature race for each class with a decent number of entries. Its a real exciting concept that to our knowledge has not been done with karts before. Blame Gordon Dahm and Jim McIntosh if it doesnt work :) Already I know of 4 current NZ title holders who are definately entering.

Huge thanks to Roger Maisey for sponsoring the $100 Helispecs cash draw after every meeting for the past year. $1200 sponsorship to the club!!!

The keys to the track have now been changed so the key you have will only open the forestry gate. The new keys can be picked up from Denise at the July Fun Day, or if you need it earlier then contact her (8860030) and arrange collection. Please remember that this key has been hired to you only - it is not to be used to let non keyholders into the track, nor loaned to anyone else.

Sheryl the Secretary :)

19th June 2010
Hi Everyone,

This weekend has come round really quick and I am slow to email you all :(

Meant to be heinous weather but the forecast has been wrong every weekend for months now so this weekend should be no different. Leave your wets at home cos they wont be needed :)

Dont forget we have your meals covered tomorrow. Starting with Bacon and eggs for breakfast from 7.30 am, then during the day we have rolls, sandwiches, nachos, american hotdogs, toasted sandwiches, pies, savouries etc available. SUNDAY ROAST for dinner from 4.30 pm!!! Pork or lamb and veges yummmmmmmmm

If you are not racing and would like to offer your services then roll up and we will put you to work for the day.

See you tomorrow
Sheryl

4th June 2010
Some more kerbing is being done on the track over this long weekend so if you are wanting to see if it is open for testing, please give Glenn and ring on 0277559814 beforehand to check availability.
If you are free to lend a hand with this job, Im sure Glenn would appreciate it. Again give him a call to find out times etc
sheryl

25th February 2010
As most of our members will not be competingon the weekend of 6th and 7th March, we desperately need you to put your hand up to help. I know it is a weekend near the end of summer and you would all rather be at the beach or somewhere else making the most of the sun, but now is the ideal opportunity to provide service to your club instead of just turning up to race!!!

We need:
permanent flaggies - either day is fine (you dont need to commit to both days) BBQ helpers for Friday (after official practice) and Saturday nights - again either/or Rubbish collectors after the event Someone to wander round and sell raffle tickets whatever else you can offer :) I need a reply to this email with your name and your preferred job - so press that "reply to" button now and volunteer!!
Sheryl

12th February 2010

Hi Everyone,

Our next meeting has rolled round already. This Sunday is our Valentines Day Meeting which basically means you supply chocolates, roses and red wine for the lady on the gate :) Normal race day timetable applies.

If you are intending to practice on the track anytime before the March Rotax meeting, it is essential you ring Glenn (078860030) beforehand as there are alot of jobs that need doing so it is possible the track may not be open.

There will possibly be a working bee on 20/21st February. Keep this day free and I will let you know if it is definate asap.

Once again HUGE thanks to Roger Maisey and his business Helispecs for sponsoring the $100 cash draw every race meeting. He will do a great job repairing your helicopter when it needs maintenance!!

March 6/7 sees us holding the Rotax meeting. As there are no support classes due to the length of races they require, it is your chance to provide service to your club. We need permanent flaggies, helpers in the kitchen, a few to run the BBQ etc etc. Will be good to see as many as possible spreading the workload over the 2 days of racing or on the Friday before for practice day.

See you Sunday
Sheryl (ready to graciously accept Valentines gifts ;) )

Hi Everyone
Firstly congratulations to Glenn Tremain who was named 2009 Administrator of the Year in the Sport Waikato Sports Awards. This was in recognition of his many, many hours of hard work over the past years. He spoke well at the ceremony, despite what he might tell you. And the supper was alright too ;)

All trophies need to be engraved and returned either to the next race meeting or to Brian Tyrrells workshop thanks.

Round 2 of Club Champs is this Sunday. If you arent in Club Champs for whatever reason you can still race but will be off the back of the field. Normal race timetable applies.
At the conclusion of racing we will be having a BBQ dinner again like we did last meeting. Steak and salads will be $5, and sausage and salads will be $3. If you are available to help with the BBQ please let me know as we always appreciate the extra pairs of hands. We would ask that all the plastic knives, forks and plates be returned to the kitchen to be washed again for the next meeting.

Thanks to all the seniors who organised people from other classes to flag for them last meeting. This made things a huge amount easier for me on the gate and I really appreciated it. Lets try and make this a regular thing or else it will be no flaggies - no race. Simple!!

See you all Sunday
Sheryl

Hi Everyone,
What a wonderful meeting we had for our first twilight meeting in a long time. Thanks to everyone who helped during the day, and to Sharon Hartley, Denise Tremain (and daughters) and Kim Morgan-Coughey who expertly manned the very busy BBQ dinner. Will have to do that again as it was a great success.
Remember the working bee this Saturday (7th November) at 9 am. Bring trailerts, wheelbarrows, shovels etc as there is a whole heap of topsoil to be moved. The track will be closed while the working bee is in progress.
All trophies now need to be returned. Remember to get them engraved and drop them off at Brian Tyrrells workshop asap please.
Didnt the lawns look wonderful (as usual)??? Phoebe was like a pig in mud on the new ride-on mower when I went out to the track during the week. After all those years of pushing a hand mower, we decided to make her job easier and I applied for a grant to buy a ride-on and also a new hand mower. Hopefully it will cut down the number of days a month Glenn and Phoebe spend mowing the lawns, as it is a HUGE task :)

29th October 2009

Hi Everyone,
This Saturday is first round of Club Champs. The format is the same as last year - 10 heats over the two rounds and drop your worst 2 heats. There are a few nonmembers expected and they will be starting of the back of the field. Gates will open at 10.30 am on the Saturday with racing expected to start around 2 pm. After racing there will be a bbq dinner available to purchase, as well as raffles etc so make sure you bring a few lazy $$$. Entry fee for all competitors will be $30
Huge thanks to Gordon Dahm. He is sponsoring all the Club Champs trophies this year. Remember Rob Dahm Ltd if you have a few loads of logs that need removing from your back garden :)
Remember also Helispecs Ltd for all yoour helicopter maintenance requirements. Roger Maisey kindly puts up the $100 cash prize each meeting. This is drawn after prize giving so worth staying round for.
Working bee next Saturday (7th November) to remove a whole heap of topsoil and a few other bits and bobs. Come along at 9.30 am with shovels, trailers etc to help out.
Congratulations to our members Bradley Tyrrell and Andy Schofield. Brad took out 1st in the Rotax Heavy class and 2nd in the Yamaha Heavy class. Andy won the Junior Yamaha class and got third in the Kf3 class at the North Islands on the weekend. Top 6 placings also to other Tokoroa members including Rhys Tinney and Thomas Joyes. Great job guys.
Please remember to bring your trophies back ASAP. Make sure you have your name engraved on them if necessary before returning.
See you all Saturday
Sheryl

24th September 2009

Hi Everyone,
What a wonderful Grand Opening meeting we had. Couldnt have run better. Thanks to everyone who bought along some finger food as requested, and to those who helped with different jobs on the day. Good to see some new members racing and also the return of some old timers :)
This Sunday we have another Club Day. We will be having another BBQ after the meeting, and a scratchie raffle so make sure you bring along a few lazy dollars. Is anyone able to run the BBQ for me??? Everything will be there ready to go.
Now more than ever it is important that we have flaggies on all points. With the new yellow flag rule, there could be a huge stretch of no-passing under a yellow flag if a point is unmanned. If you are unfamiliar with the new rule - and you shouldnt be cos I emailed the rule chage to you all - then check the KSNZ website. Seniors in particular - please try and get someone to flag for you before you get on the grid so we can keep things flowing.
Keys to the track are still being lent out to non-members and these people are getting away with paying no practice fee, nor signing an indemnity form. We are not here to be used. If this practice continues then we will have no choice but to revisit the availability of the track for practice.
Remember to stay for prize-giving. It might be your name drawn out for the $100 Helispecs Cash Draw. Thanks again to Roger Maisey for donating $100 every meeting. Remember Helispecs next time your helicopter needs work done :)

See you Sunday,
Sheryl
