What a fantastic day we had for our first meeting of 2012. Congratulations to all the newcomers to the sport making it through the day - well done - we look forward to seeing you again at our next meeting. Thanks to everyone for helping them out along the way, and to our Kartsport NZ officials who ran the meeting.
See our updated events page for our 2012 Calendar.
POINTS SERIES - this year sees the return of our successful points series. 6 rounds this year. Have a look at our events page for each round and the track set-up - some will be long track, some short, some clockwise, some anti-clockwise - should great to see who can come through with the skills on the different tracks.
MASTERS - are those that are 40+ and wish to be recognised as a master - we recommend you use the green number plates and remember to state you are a Master at the registration desk. This year our club will recognise the Masters with certificates and trophies at all meetings plus points series and club champs. There should be some great battles out there - get amongst the action!
CLUB DAY and ROTAX CHALLENGE ROUND 2 - April 14/15.
The format of this meeting is practice Friday 13th, 2 time trials and 1 heat on the Saturday, 1 heat, 1 pre-final and 1 final on the Sunday. The 3 Rotax Classes are Rotax Light, Rotax Heavy, Junior Max.
Entry fee for the Rotax Challenge - $100 which includes Saturday testing, security 2 nights, ambulance, fuel and tyre levies and entry fee. A practice fee of $20 will apply to non-club members practicing on the Friday. Entry forms out soon.
Take note - this meeting IS open to anybody - we are running our club day on the Sunday and our normal $25 race entry fee applies to the club classes running on the Sunday. The club day is actually a brilliant stress free day as there will be 7 perhaps 8 classes during the day, meaning there is plenty of time between your races, and a great chance to see New Zealands best karting talent out there gunning for the Rotax Challenge prizes.
The club day format will be - 2 heats (1 pre-determined grid draw, the other a reverse of this), 1 pre-final (based on the results of the 2 heats), 1 final (based on the result of the pre-final).
TRACK CLOSURES -
Saturday 25 February 2012 - minibikes are having a meeting, and,
Every Wednesday night - 5.30 onwards the cycling club use the track for their events.
Thank you for your co-operation.
ARE YOU 40+ AND KEEN ON KARTING?? MASTERS IS FOR YOU...
Rotax Masters (above, green plates) - if you think Kartsport is just for the young ones think again - Masters is the biggest growing class in the country - low maintenance, electric start Rotax engines on a full chassis makes Kartsport for the 40+ age group super fun, super skilled and totally affordable. True, some of the youngies will out pace you but the battles between the Masters in the middle are superb. Get in touch with us now, or call Brad at Pacific Kartsport NZ (021 575 735 or pacifickartsportnz@ihug.co.nz) to find out how you can come racing with the Masters.(Photo Kaycie O'Connor)

CLUB INFO:
Click here for an Excel kart set-up sheet where you can record all your data for each meeting - a great resource to look back at see from past events what works and what doesnt. You can print the second page on the back of the first page so you can record lap times, rpm, temp etc for each race and lap so you see all the data for a meeting on one page. There is also a page to record your base set-ups. Best to go 'save as' when the prompt comes up, save it, then open it in Excel.
The draw for the naming rights for the track for one year was drawn on Sept 11 2011 and congratulations to Eric Bass and family who purchased a ticket - it is now the Bass Raceway.
Lap records (as recorded by the AMB lapscoring system) are here.
